Subject: Single Project Non Submission?!?

<Lecturer>,

I have just recieved a letter from the uni with my grades on it for my third year. It says NS next to single project which stands for Non-Submission. What's going on? I know I handed in my Game project. Did you not recieve it?

I'm shocked that this is the first I have heard about this so I am hoping that there has been some mistake. My student number is 10218347 and my program was Digital Art & Photography. Please can either yourself or <Head of Pathway> get back to me as soon as possible as I'm understandably worried about this. You can email back or my mobile number is ##### ######.

I will look into this tomorrow - Thursday 5th August and give you reply. As far as I am aware, you should have a full set of marks for this module.

Hi,

It appears as if your grades did not get put onto the marks matrix. This is probably my error. However, it can be resolved. I will get it sorted and keep in touch. Do not worry, you have passed this module.

<Lecturer>,

I hope you do not think I am being unreasonable but you must understand how important this degree is too me, the last three years rests on you giving the grade for my single project to the <a lady in the Academic Office>. Over a month ago you confirmed to me that I had passed the module and you had not put it onto the system yet I am still chasing you to get it done.

Please can you, <Head of Pathway> or <Head of College> get this fixed as it is causing me serious stress. Once it has been sorted out please contact me to let me know it has been done by email or phone (##### ######).

Ian,

I forwarded this mark to <a different lady> in Academic office on the 9th August after your initial inquiry. (see below). At that time, she was handling these Marks.

I appreciate your concern, and apologise for any error that has occurred here, either on my part, or with academic office.

This mark has also been forwarded to <a lady in the Academic Office> as of today. If you have any more problems please let me know.

Hi Ian,

I have checked your profile and I now have the mark for your Single Project, its is 65%.

However you had a resit in 'Photographic Studio Practice' to complete over the summer and we have no record of you submitting this. (You were sent a letter at the end of July giving you details of this resit and the resit deadline of 23rd August.) As you have not resat this piece of work you will therefore need to return to College this semester and retake this module with attendance and pay for it.

<a lady in the Academic Office>,

I handed in my resit of Photographic Studio Practice on the last day of term. I was told I had to resit it but it was not made clear that I had time in the summer to do it so I finished it and handed it in along with the rest of my projects at the end of the semester. During the summer I received a phone call from a lady at TVU to ask about the project. She said she had found my project and was ringing to see if it was a resit, I explained that it was and I had handed it in as I thought it was due. She explained to me that I could have had longer on it but as I had handed it in I could no longer add to it.

So my project was handed in as someone phoned me about it. Someone must know where it is as TVU has it. I can't believe how much trouble it is becoming to get my final classification and as I have resat and submitted that module there is no way that I will be coming back to university and paying to take it again. I apologise if the tone of this email seems slightly abrupt but I am somewhat vexed by the situation I am in.

I rang you but I was informed that you were in a meeting. Please ring me on ##### ###### to let me know what we can do to sort this mess out.

Kind Regards,

Ian Wright

I have just chased the administrator up and yes she does have the mark, the error occurred due to the tutor leaving. Please except our sincerest apologies for this mix up, I will enter the mark today and you can therefore graduate. You should receive details of your award next week sometime but if you wish to find out your overall classification earlier, if you come into the Faculty Office TC308 I can give it to you over the counter.

<a lady in the Academic Office>,

When I rang yesterday you put me through to the lady in charge of the photography module that I resat, she said she'd ring me back yesterday but she didn't. Could you give me her name and extension so I can ring her again. I rang yourself and the LCMM faculty office but I was told all the admin staff are busy with enrollment and the temps weren't able to help.

No problem, her name is <name> and her phone number is ### ########. I have copied her into this email so you also have her email address. We are extremely busy at the moment with enrolment and are not at our desks so she probably just didn't get a minute to call you back.

Ignore the last email, I have just spoke to <name> and she has corrected the mark, you have been awarded a 61 pass for that module (not the capped 40) so I will re-calculate your degree today to see if that effects your classification and will ring you or email you on Monday to let you know the outcome.

With the uncapped mark your classification has now gone up to a 2:1. I will process the paperwork today so you should receive notification in due course.
